Secret Science Club teams up with Hudson River Park's "Ask a Scientist" on beautiful Pier 57 in Manhattan
Thursday, November 13 @ 6:30PM, $10. (Reserve your tickets.)
Secret Science Club flows into Hudson River Park's “Discovery Tank” to explore strange animals and even stranger climes with eel expert Chris Bowser and ecologist Judith Weis.
--NYC is along the path of some of the world’s great animal migrations, including the storied long-distance flights of migrating songbirds and monarch butterflies. But some lesser known migrations take place in our waterways, too—with one of the most fascinating and mysterious being the roundtrip migration of American Eels from the Sargasso Sea to the Hudson River. Come learn all about this amazing phenomenon with eel expert Chris Bowser!
--Climate change is effecting our freshwater and ocean ecosystems in some dramatic ways. The water is not only getting warmer—its chemistry is being altered. These processes have cascading and unexpected impacts on aquatic species and their environments. Ecologist Judith Weis shares the latest research on the climate crisis and our liquid ecosystems.
